Transport Learning Center - FAQ's

How do I choose what I want to pay for my transport?
There are several important factors that impact the cost of a transport, including the mileage, shipping method, and vehicle size.  Pricing is based on the mileage the vehicle has to travel from the pick up location to the delivery location.  Shorter distances typically cost more per mile than cross country transports and enclosed transports cost about 50% more than open transports.  When choosing your cost, a good rule of thumb is to project anywhere from .75 to 1.50 a mile for transports less than 500 miles, .60 to .90 a mile for transports in the 500 to 1500 miles range, and .35 to .50 for cross country transports.

Can I pack items in my car when transporting?
People do it all the time, but the official answer is no.  Transporters of vehicles are only licensed to move vehicles and items in a car are considered household items which require a separate license.  When packing a vehicle full of items, it can increase the weight of the vehicle and cause issues when the carrier shows up to pick up your vehicle, they may even ask for more money because now the load is not what they agreed to.
How long will my transport take?
The transport time will depend on two factors, distance and price offered to the carrier.  Cross country moves can take 7 to 10 days and can be affected by weather as well.  The price you choose to pay the carrier plays a role in when your vehicle will be accepted and ultimately picked up.  The carriers will look at the available transports on the route they are traveling and then select the highest paying jobs 1st that meet their schedule.  Pricing your transport at the lower end of the list available can delay when your vehicle will be picked up.
Is my vehicle insured?
Part of what you pay us for is to verify that the carrier is covered by the proper amount of insurance and that everything is up to date.  All carriers are vetted to ensure this occurs for our clients.  Keep in mind that acts of god are not covered by the carriers insurance.  Examples would be hail damage, rock chips, road debris, etc.
